I get it. You want to be your best. ALL THE TIME. So you spend a ton of time working to make your best even better. However, the greats are never at their best 100% of the time. In fact, they often have times in which they struggle. What is incredible, is that they have put in the work to improve their baseline, their average performances, so that it keeps creeping up which only pushes their best performances even higher. This is what it means to Raise Your Floor.
The 10 Essentials: Essential #8
The eighth Essential is learning to Maintain Confidence. By far, this is one of the most common challenges that athletes mention when I work with them. There is this belief that confidence is necessary for athletes to achieve all that they are capable of in their sport. While I’m not convinced that it is necessary, having confidence certainly makes it easier for athletes to accomplish their goals and achieve high levels of success. When the doubt starts to creep in, all you need is one simple shift to create big results.
The 10 Essentials: Essential #1
The first Essential is learning to Distinguish between Controllables and Uncontrollables. This is the foundation of all teachings with Athlete’s Academy. You must know what aspects of yourself and your sport are controllable and uncontrollable. Being clear on this difference enables you to put your time, energy, and focus on those aspects that can actually have an impact. Your energy is valuable. Be sure it’s not wasted on something that you have no control over.
